Memory Stick Busted!

•13/11/2009 • Leave a Comment

I recently bought a 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo from eBay and I’m really excited about it. Now I can hold many songs and videos in to my PSP. However, after playing around with it for five minutes, my Memory Stick suddenly stops working. I was able to put some media into the card but after just barely a few minutes, the PSP can’t recognize the memory stick. I thought maybe it has something to do with my portable system but when I plugged in my old 2GB Memory Stick, the PSP can read that one instead. Uh oh. Looks like my brand new memory stick is faulty. Guess I have to get a refund.

Here’s another problem. I can’t contact the seller. He did reply to my email but I couldn’t understand a word he said because of his “Engrish” (He’s from China, BTW). I then wrote to him asking to explain it the solution in more detail on how does this refund thing works and how do I get my money back. He still hasn’t replied. Crap! Looks like I’m stuck with this broken Memory Stick.

My iPhone Games Craze

•12/08/2009 • Leave a Comment

I’m hooked with my iPhone these past few months playing around with all kinds of apps and stuff. It has become my new plaything at the moment (Sorry PSP). There are so many good apps available and some really bad ones but I would like to share with you first my favourite iPhone games:

10. Bejeweled 2- A straightforward puzzle game but really addictive, especially if you aim to get a higher score.

9. Enigmo- A very quirky brainteaser filled with lots of frustration and fun. Nothing punishing about this game which is a good thing. Did I mention it’s totally revolutionary?

8. Tap Tap Revenge- A Guitar Hero clone in some ways but it’s really not too shabby. I discovered a lot of new songs from Tap Tap like 3OH!3’s Don’t Trust Me, Daft Punk’s Technologic, Weezer’s We Wish You A Merry Christmas, etc.

7. Spore: Origins- It may not be as good as the PC version but having to have your microscopic creature swim around in your iPhone is just out of this world. Still haven’t finish this game though but I will get there eventually.

6. Silent Hill: The Escape- Pretty exciting game for the iPhone although it could use more stages, weapons and better storyline and replayability. At least you get to replay the game as an alien with a laser gun. Rad! Silent Hill begs for a sequel.

5. Resident Evil: Degeneration- I really like the Degeneration movie because I feel it handles its source material pretty well than the lousy Milla Jovovich trilogy. Although the game mechanics is a true RE4 clone, Degeneration on the iPhone is surprisingly good.

4. Duke Nukem 3D- The latest edition on my iPhone, Duke Nukem 3D is a real surprise to me cos I didn’t expect for the game to be made available on the iPhone. Good port but the controls could’ve been better. Definitely recommended for those who are truly disappointed with Duken Nukem Forever’s demise.

3. Metal Gear Solid Touch- A great 2D shooting game from Hideo Kojima himself. I was skeptical when the game first came out cos it didn’t really look impressive when I saw the screenshots. But after the price went down I decided to give it a try and wow, this game’s surprisingly good. Simple concept but fun like hell. Definitely not recommended if you haven’t played MGS4 on the PS3.

2. Tiger Woods PGA Tour- Tiger Woods rocks! And this game rocks too. PGA Tour is probably the only sports game I ever played and the iPhone version is not too shabby either. The Tour is a whole lot of fun if you’re the competitive type and the feeling of having Eagles and Birdies is so beautiful. The only thing I hate about this game is the two annoying commentators. Their comments are just so cruel. If only you can shut them up.

1. Wolfenstein 3D- As classic as it is, Wolfenstein 3D is still the king of FPS game. To be honest, this is my first time playing the game and it brings me such pleasure being able to play this great PC port on the go. Way to go, John Carmack!

There are other games I wish to download such as Doom, Doom: Resurrection, Tetris and more but I wanna wait a bit longer until the prices reduce, but as for Doom, it’ll have to wait some more since it’s not out yet. I have other games that I’ve downloaded and tried but I wasn’t impressed with any of them at all. There are Crash Racing, Cro Mag Rally, Pac Man, Time Crisis, Flick Fishing and Space DeadBeef. The reason I bought them is because of the iPhone ads. These games were in them and you just couldn’t help it but to download it yourself. Please don’t get these games.

With so many games coming out, I couldn’t help it but to pray that the respective developers will port the following games to the iPhone:

1. Star Wars: Dark Forces- This is the first FPS Star Wars game ever and it’s truly a great game even though it was panned as a Doom clone. LucasArts just released the Monkey Island remake on the App Store. Why not this one?

2. Day of The Tentacle- Another LucasArts game but this one’s an adventure game. A genuine SCUMM game at its finest.

3. Jones In The Fast Lane- A classic PC game in the early 90’s and it was a true family classic.

4. Ghostbusters- The developers should apply the Ghostbusters: The Video Game (The Nintendo DS version) into the iPhone. That would be awesome.

5. Batman- I just had an idea of having a 2D beat-em-up Batman game like the Adventures of Batman & Robin and Batman Returns on the Super NES or Batman and Return of The Joker on the NES, so I hope someone can come up with an iPhone version where you get to beat the living daylights out of Batman’s foes on the go. That would be wonderful.

6. Prisoner of Ice- One of my favourite Call of Cthulhu games. It was scary the first time I played it and it will most certainly do the same to you too.

iPhone is truly an amazing gadget. For those of you who aren’t sure of what games to get for your iPhone, I’d say check out the games that I listed out on my Favourite list above. But if you don’t have an iPhone, then what on earth are you waiting for? Get one now!

What Time Is It? It’s Zombie Time!

•04/04/2009 • 1 Comment

Two months. Wow, has it been that long since I last posted my blog? It’s been crazy these past few weeks. It’s all about work, work and work, and guess what? I’m still working! I’m currently finishing off a big project that’s been haunting me since last year and as soon as I’m done with it, I hope I’ll be able to add more contents in my blog. Yeah, I know I said I’d put some artworks in here but due to time and work, it’ll be quite a while until I add some more stuff in here. So in the mean time, play some video games.

Aside from the abundance of work that I have, there’s nothing much to say except that during my spare time, I managed to buy some awesome games to add in to my collection, mostly old games. I seem to have a sudden interest with the House of The Dead series ever since I last saw their latest installment, Overkill. That game make me puke and laugh at the same time. It was brilliant and I love it. So to help make me understand more of the overall storyline, I bought all three previous House of The Dead (I, II and III) games for the PC version. As it turns out, the original Trilogy are pretty funny too thanks to its awful english dialogue. The controls, graphics and music are pretty decent for Arcade standards but the scripts really make me lost for words, especially part II.

It seems so unnatural and silly for every human characters in the trilogy to have no sense of fear, shock and despair. The main characters like Thomas Rogan and Agent G all say things like “What is going on here” or “What are these things” in a very calm and cool manner. I mean seriously, how could they react so calmly and act so cool at the same time? I know they’re special agents or whatever they’re supposed to be but if I were to see zombies and killer animals roaming around the city, I think I’d crap my pants and scream. Even the civilians act so peacefully as if these monsters are something they see everyday. Sigh! you gotta love Japanese gaming companies.

Other than those awful but hilarious dialogues, I had a blast playing all the House of The Dead games, and I think III is my favourite because you get to use shotguns as your primary weapon and holy cow, those shotguns can really pack quite a punch. These boomsticks are probably the most powerful shotguns ever in the video game history. They’re so amazing. Ok, I’m off to resume with my work now but before I go, I just wanna say that this blog/website will grow in time and I hope you will all be there to witness it. So for now, adios!

Wassup,

It’s been about a month now since my last blog. After New Year, I was bombarded with work, projects and other revolting stuff but now with all that out of the way, it feels great to finally be here.

I’m expanding this blog by adding a new page dedicated for my artwork which I’ve drawn over the years. It’s gonna consists of random drawings of fictional characters from video games, music and other medias. This update may take a while because I’ll be compiling all my favourite drawings and make sure they’re all in good order. I’m also quite nervous because this is my first time showing my artwork to the public and I hope you guys like it. Be sure to check out this blog in a few weeks time. Until next time!

New Year, Old Games

•11/01/2009 • Leave a Comment

After becoming a devoted fan of ScrewAttack.com, I suddenly have the urge of playing old video games. I know it sounds crazy but it’s true. Seeing the Angry Nerd reviews and ScrewAttack’s Video Game Vault makes me wanna play games that I grew up with and games that I’ve never played before. Here’s the list of the games I’m currently playing:

  • Pokemon Yellow Special Edition (GB)
  • Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES)
  • Biker Mice from Mars (SNES)
  • Secret of Mana (SNES)
  • Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)
  • Psychonauts (PC)
  • Insecticide part 1 (PC)
  • Untold Legends: Brotherhood of The Blade (PSP)

So yeah, it’s a mix of old and newer ones. I actually can’t believe I’m playing my good ol’ Pokemon Yellow version once again after years of absence and despite the graphics being slightly outdated in today’s standard, Pokemon on the Game Boy is still a fun game. I made a bold decision to start Pokemon all over again to relive back my cherish memories and it’s all awesome. And Pikachu looks better than ever. Now if I can only remember when does Metapod evolves to Butterfree…

I also took the liberty of playing my all-time favourite console- the Super NES, which was collecting dust in my locked cabinet. I’m still amazed this machinery still works despite being locked away for centuries. Nintendo, you’re so amazing. The Super NES has millions of great video games in its library and I’m proud to own a few of them: Donkey Kong Country and Biker Mice from Mars. These games are absolute best. I remember playing them for hours nonstop and I shall do so again! Also, in addition to my SNES library, I have with me Secret of Mana and Battletoads which I just bought recently. I’ve never been an RPG fan but after hearing so many things about how great Secret of Mana is, I decided to give it a try and yeah, I like it. It has a great storyline which is what I always like in a video game and I’m determine to finish it and see the ending.

Speaking of ending, I’m proud to say that I successfully beat Battletoads in Battletoads, probably the most difficult video game I’ve EVER played! The game first lets you in a easy stage with easy baddies and easy boss battle then suddenly, it takes you to near impossible stages which are ridiculously hard and makes you wanna break a window (Make that two). I’m not exaggerating, it takes so much patience, determination and guts to beat the damn Dark Queen at the end of the game. Sure, you have 7 or 8 bars on your health meter but what’s the point of having one when almost all enemies and obstacles can kill you with a single touch? That’s just mean. I absolutely hate the second last stage where you ride on a bicycle-like thingy and avoid obstacles to proceed to the end of the line. Sounds easy right? But noooo… the developers had to make it even more tough by putting a rat with buzzsaw on your back that can kill you instantly. He is super fast and really shows no mercy. Seriously, I had to play this level like 200 times. I’m dead serious!!

Well, that was the end of that game. In recent events, Call of Duty 4 is fantastic and so is Psychonauts. I was quite disappointed with Insecticide because Crackpot promised to release part 2 in Summer of last year but what happened? I hope the company’s doing alright because I tried visiting their website yesterday and it has nothing in there. I can’t believe GameSpot gave a low ranking for Untold Legends because it’s a really fun game. Deja vu my ass!

Ok, that’s about it for now. Stay tune for more updates.

Unappreciated Games That I Enjoy Playing

•12/12/2008 • 1 Comment

Video games are either hit or miss, but there are some which we tend to cater mostly on the not-so-good ones as oppose to the best selling ones. Yes, we all love games that has won numerous awards and sometimes go above the rating scale but what about those which appeared on the news for a while and it never been heard again? Here are my top ten unappreciated games that I enjoy playing:

(Not in any particular order)
01.The Club (XBOX360, PS3, PC)
When I first saw the trailer of the Club, I got real excited with the cast of characters it had and just the buildup of it. It was really cool, so I decided to give this game a try. I bought the PC version and yeah, I was really impressed. I actually had a good time playing it as I was trying my best to beat the highest score. Overall, it’s a terrific game but I was shocked to learn that the Club didn’t really hit big. Seriously, how could you not like a game about doing nothing but only killing bad guys? The game has no restriction whatsoever. It’s just about gunning down baddies and survive. What more could you ask for? Sure, the gameplay can a bit repetitive and isn’t much of storytelling but you gotta give credit for being somewhat different but unique and addictive gaming scheme. I love the Club and I don’t care what anyone says.
Average Critics Score: 7.0
My Score: 8.5

02.Men In Black: The Game (PC, PS)
Probably one of the lousiest movie-based video games ever but I actually liked the game when it first came out. The game’s plot is no where as near as the popular movie, the control sucks ass, the graphics are balls and the ending is terrible so why do I like this game? I’m not sure. If you happen to see this game anywhere, you might wanna give it a try but the end result… just keep it to yourself ok?
Average Critics Score: 3.5
My Score: 5.0

03.Batman: Dark Tomorrow (GC, XBOX)
Considered the worst video game of 2003 and I like the game. O my god. What kind of a sick gamer am I? The game’s like a game that hasn’t been finished as the controls are incredibly broken, the fighting sequence is hilariously stupid, and the background music is a total mess. It was like Kemco hired programmers who are on drugs or something so why the hell do I like this game? Well, the only that sticks out from this awful game are the cutscenes. Yeah, Dark Tomorrow does have good cutscenes and the storyline is one of the best Batman plot ever written, so in other words, I favour this game because of the storyline so sue me.
Average Critics Score: 2.8
My Score: 5.0

04.Dead Head Fred (PSP)
The most recent game in this list and honestly the game’s really not that bad. The first portion of the game may be a bit slow and the controls may feel a bit stiff but you’ll immediately get used to it. The characters are a real interesting bunch and you’ll be surprised to find a lot of swearing in the game. It’s really rad. Also, there’s a lot of contents in this game such as mini games, side quests, cutscenes and more. It’s real surprising that the developers managed to squeeze all this goodness into one UMD disc. Do not take this game for granted. It’s a really fun game.
Average Critics Score: 7.7
My Score: 8.0

05.God Hand (PS2)
It was the last game made by developers who did Okami and Viewtiful Joe and holy crap, is this game good! God Hand is absolutely the funniest and also one of the hardest game I’ve ever played in my life. The storyline is so hilarious and nothing makes any sense at all (In a good way that is). This game deserves an award for such creativity but it seems that nobody gives a crap about it. What a shame.
Average Critics Score: 7.0
My Score: 8.9

06.Insecticide (DS, PC)
Created by the ex-employees of LucasArts’ classic adventure games of the 90’s (Excluding Tim Schafer), Insecticide is a pretty fun game. Again, I applaud this game for its brilliant story-telling and cool characters and also to give credits to those who made Full Throttle, Day of The Tentacle and Grim Fandango.
Average Critics Score: 5.4
My Score: 7.5

07.Dementium: The Ward (DS)
A cross between Doom 3 and Silent Hill. Awesome game. A bit loose on the ending but a pretty solid FPS game on the DS nevertheless.
Average Critics Score: 7.4
My Score: 8.0

08.Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (PC, XBOX360, PS3)
A game so crude and dangerous that a notable staff and editor was fired from GameSpot for expressing his honest thoughts about the game. In some ways he was right about Kane & Lynch being lazy with the dialogue and plot but I think Kane & Lynch is a truly awesome game. It’s a game like no other because of the interaction between the characters and the buildup it has with the plot. The only bad thing is the ending but nevertheless, I quite like this game.
Average Critics Score: 6.4
My Score: 8.4

09.Alone In The Dark (PC, XBOX360, PS3, Wii, PS2)
I honestly don’t know what went wrong with the controls in this game. It was like the developers thought that game is too perfect that they screw up the gameplay codings just to play safe. If that was the case, they were dead wrong. Having to switch between first and third person perspective constantly is ridiculous and the fighting sequence is pretty bad. However, I highly praise this game for being ambitious.
Average Critics Score: 5.9
My Score: 7.9

And now, last but not least, the most underappreciated game which will make you cringe with fear:

10.The Army Men Series (PC, PS, PS2, GC, XBOX, GBC)
Yes, you heard me right. Army Men by 3DO. A series so broken that the company filed for bankruptcy in 2003. I did not choose one game from the series. I chose to put the whole series in this list. Army Men games were actually pretty good when it first came out for the PC but as time went on, 3DO made just too many games that I don’t think they even test any of the game thoroughly. Most of them lack proper control scheme, bad gameplay graphics and punishing difficulty. The only thing that is not broken is the storyline which I love. As a fan of toys in general, I actually enjoy learning about the Army Men universe where the green and tan nations are always at war and they come to our world to use our “sophisticated” technologies against their enemies. I thought that was brilliant. However, as good as the storyline goes, 3DO made no attempt whatsoever to make their games a fun experience. The gameplay graphics look nowhere near as good as its cutscenes and most of the tools used on their latest games were all recycled from the previous ones. You’d think that the series will improve in term of gameplay and graphics like any other games but no, 3DO didn’t do s**t to improve anything. They just add new characters, extend the storyline a little and that was it. The Nerd says it best: “What were they thinking?!”
You might be wondering by now as to why I still like this series even though I stated my reasons for hating it? Well, it’s because of its general plot and universe they created. It’s innocent and well written I might add but it’s a shame that the company were truly retarded in their work and probably didn’t know how to handle the series the right way.
Average Critics Score: Ranging between 2.0-6.9
My Score: Ranging between 6.0-7.9

So there you have it. My list of bad games that I enjoyed playing to this day. As you can see, the overall reason I like these games is because of the plot. I believe story plays an important part in the video game world and no matter if it’s been banned from the public for being such a crappy game, as long as the storyline is good, I’d go buy it. But don’t worry, I’m not that desperate as you might think I am. I truly hate ET for the Atari 2600, Superman64, Big Rigs, etc. and I will make sure that these games will never ever be in this list.

You wanna share your own favourite unappreciated games?

The Best and Worst Video Game Moments You Had in 2008

•06/12/2008 • 2 Comments

Christmas is coming which can only mean one thing…the new year’s coming. Wow, it feels fast that the year 2008 has come and gone and now a new chapter is unfolding for both you and me. Now that the year 2008 is coming to an end, let’s all share our best and worst video game moments we had this year. Here’s mine:

(Not in any particular order)
Best Moments:

+Cinemassacre-
This year has been quite hectic for me and I knew I need to find something to help soothe the pain. I tried everything from video games to music to art but I can’t help admitting that I grew tired doing the same thing over and over again. I needed something new. Something fresh. Something…angry! That was when I first discovered something by total accident when I was casually scrolling around GameTrailers.com one day. And that something had five words in it: The Angry Video Game Nerd. The moment I watched the Virtual Boy review, which was the Nerd’s newest video at the time, it changed my life. I’ve never seen someone so angry before in my life with constant swearing just by playing games that nobody talks about it anymore. I thought that was brilliant. It totally made my day and soon I’ve become a big fan of all James Rolfe’s work from his Nerd’s reviews to his movie reviews. That guy is a total genius and he has inspired me in so many ways. That dude deserves an award.

+GameTrailers-
Before this, I’ve always been a loyal user to GameSpot for a few years but after the big controversy in November of last year, the site has never been the same again and it really broke my heart. Don’t get me wrong, GameSpot is still a powerful website but if you are a long time fan of the site from the early years like I am, you might be disappointed with the changes it has made which didn’t turn out great at all like the rating system. That was the last straw. It was time to find another website and that was when GameTrailers came along. Before GameSpot, I’ve never touched GT before so browsing in for the first time it’s like a breath of fresh air. The updates are good, the contents are cool and the video reviews are awesome. Very professionally done and straight forward. I like it. Does anyone know who’s the voice behind most of the GT reviews, retrospectives and countdowns? Is it Brandon? Whoever he is, he’s good.

+ScrewAttack-
Oo I couldn’t resist. ScrewAttack is yet another discovery I made this year and you guys are simply amazing. I remember the first time I saw one of the Video Game Vault or Top Ten videos featuring Stuttering Craig and Handsome Tom. The first time I saw those episodes I just laughed my ass off. Hilarious. Simply hilarious. Keep up the good work guys!

+Metal Gear-
After so many delays and trailers, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots is finally here and I’ve still haven’t played it yet :P . Yup, after all this time I still have not played MGS4 yet. Don’t blame me. Blame my work. Note to self: for new year’s resolution- play MGS4.

+Condemned 2: Bloodshot-
This game kicks ass. I love it. I enjoy every bit of it from the graphics to sounds to the fighting sequences. Everything. It’s mindblowing.. Finished it like three times.

+Wii Will Rock You with Sony-
I bought my XBOX360 last year and I was both proud and happy to finally own a nex-gen console. But if that wasn’t enough, I then got the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3 this year (Not at the same time :P ) and immediately my nex-gen console collection is complete. Yay!

+Rock On Three Times-
Yeah, Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 are great but I’m talking about the latest albums made by Metallica, AC/DC and Guns N Roses. Having to release their respective albums around the same time is totally crazy, especially Chinese Democracy, the album which fans never thought would ever surface. The recording began since 1994 and it was delayed for many many years making the most expensive album “never made”. But now it’s here and so we can all stop the timer and rock hard!

+The Dark Kinght-
Ok, so this is not a video game moment but the movie’s so good I just had to put it in here anyway. This is the best Batman movie I’ve ever seen and I believe it’s way better than the first four Batman movies combined.. The only flaws are Batman’s weird growling voice and having someone else to Portray as Rachel, but other than that- it is absolutely mindblowing

Worst Moments:

-Itagaki’s Departure-
I can guarantee that all the nerds in the world will always have a soft spot for the Dead or Alive series and the new Ninja Gaiden franchise not just because for it’s spectacular graphics and controls but also for its bosom babes! But this year it had the fans weeping when Tomonobu Itagaki, the controversial game designer and the DOA creator, announced he was leaving Tecmo and Team Ninja a few days before Ninja Gaiden II was released and is suing the company for an unpaid bonus. Although still no new update regarding the dilemma, it’s having all of us fans worried that the DOA and the Ninja Gaiden series might not ever have any new releases but even if it did manage to resurfaced, it will never be the same without Itagaki’s input. Sigh!

-GameSpot-
As I mentioned earlier, GameSpot has never been the same again and I don’t think I have anything else to add. It’s just painful…

-Red Ring of Death-
I’m sad to admit that my XBOX360 was attacked by the Red Ring of Death a few months ago. It got me totally freaked out but I was glad that Microsoft was kind enough to have the console replaced with a new one for free. Now that’s convenient. But it’s disappointing to think that such powerful hardware would be so weak by having this unnecessary hardware failure. It’s just so lame.

-Windows Vista-
Since we’re talking Microsoft, it’s time to discuss their other biggest flaw ever in history- Microsoft Vista. When I got my new laptop in January, a friend of mine warned me to stay away from Vista for it will end your life miserably. I though he was wrong but it turned out I was wrong. Vista sucks balls! I can’t express my emotion as how terrible and horrendously bad Windows Vista is. The security system is ridiculous, the navigation is dreadful and most importantly, some of the hardware and software isn’t compatible with Vista including PC games. That was totally unacceptable for me, so I had my notebook downgraded but however it wasn’t an easy task for my Sony VAIO. Normally all you need is the Windows XP CD to reformat the computer but I need to use both the CD and a floppy drive. What the hell was that all about? So yeah, it was a nightmare but my VAIO is now running on XP. I’m so happy but I’m even more grateful when I got a new MacBook Pro as a gift this year. Never used a Mac before but I’m growing to love it. So f**k Microsoft and all hail the great Apple! I also noticed that ScrewAttack uses the Mac to edit their videos and stuff so if anyone of the staff could relay some tips for me like how to use Final Cut Pro, do send me an email ;) .

-Alone In The Dark-
I’m a big fan of the survival horror genre and I knew I couldn’t let the new Alone In The Dark game pass. As it turns out, I was shocked to learn that this game is really broken, and what a shame too. Everything about it is brilliant. The music, the story, the characters, everything. But somehow Atari and Eden screwed up with the control scheme pretty bad. It’s a good example of good graphics don’t make a good game, but good controls do make a good game. Nevertheless, it’s an ambitious game and I actually did have a good time playing it. I give it 3.5/5. Minus 1 star for lousy controls and minus another 1/2 star for constant swearing.

-Duke Nukem Forever-
The name says it all. Duke Nukem is taking FOREVER to be finished. Duke Nukem Forever is like Guns N Roses’ Chinese Democracy. It’s a highly anticipated album, everyone’s psyched about it when it was first announced and…and…ok, seriously, what’s taking so long? Just release the goddamn album, man. Yeah, same thing applies for Forever. It’s yet another ambitious project but as time progress, the developers made some really stupid decisions like constantly changing its game engine. First it was the Quake II engine, then it was the Unreal Engine, followed by Doom 3 engine and it just goes on and on. Like seriously, just pick one and get on with it!

-Midway-
It was announced that Midway has suffered some major loss and God knows what will happen to the company in the near future. Can’t imagine if one day Midway will just vanish from the video game industry. But I guess they saw it coming too after realizing that the only product is worth something is the Mortal Kombat franchise. They can’t rely in one product. What they need to do is to expand other games like Rampage and the Suffering games. I’m still waiting for a new sequel from the Suffering.

-Wii Music-
In all my years, this is the first time I ever see a game created by the Godfather of Gaming (Shigeru Miyamoto) turn out to be a huge miss. When Wii Music was first announced many years ago, I was speechless to see a game where you can conduct an orchestra and playing an instrument without any control restrictions. It got me excited but however it turns out to be better in theory than in execution. Nice attempt though.

-Ghostbusters-
I’ve been waiting for a Ghostbusters sequel all my life and my prayers were answered when co-creator Dan Aykroyd announced that a sequel is on the works in a video game format. That just blew my mind. But what made me hit the ceiling when Activision decided not to release a few named games and one of them was Ghostbusters. Sob! But the good news is that Atari will now publish the game and it will be released on June 2009. Way to go Atari! It’s nice that the game’s coming out soon but to delay for another year is not cool at all.

-Heath Ledger’s Death-
Yet another non-gaming related moment but it’s still so sad to even talk about it I just had to include it in this list too. Honestly, I’ve never even heard of the actor’s existence until I saw the Dark Knight movie. I was like, “who’s acting as the Joker? This guy’s superb.” But by the time I learned the actor’s name, it was too late. Rest In Peace Heath Ledger. You were a great star.

So that concludes my Best and Worst VG Moments I Had in 2008. I know there are other good stuff that has happened too such as GTAIV, Fallout 3, etc. but hey, no two lists are the same (“…so don’t be a bitch” – Stuttering Craig) I hope you enjoy reading my list and if you want to include your own list or putting comments in here, I welcome it. Just be good, have a great holiday, enjoy your Christmas, play more games and take care.

Greetings and salutation. The name is Psykhophear and allow me to welcome you to my blog. This is basically a site for Chrotokho Creative, an official company which I established not long ago and its purpose is to post and comment anything related with my hobbies, and those interests are video games, music, and art. I have further plans for Chrotokho (Pronounced as Crow-too-co) in the near future but as for now, this blog will act as a hobby and personal site of mine.

I can’t wait to post some cool stuff that I did or find out so until next time.
